Learning CNC Is Hard.

The Ultimate CNC Workflow To Get Started Fast And Consistently Create Projects You’re Proud Of

When you get your first CNC machine, we all have the dream of how easy it’s going to be.

Just load up a project file, plop a piece of wood on your machine, push “Go!”, and out comes a perfectly finished product.

But then you start your first project and realize how technical the process is!

Broken bits. Wasted materials. Constantly worrying about your machine breaking (which costs thousands of dollars!)…

And what you thought was going to be a fun new hobby – Quickly turns into frustration, anger, and a CNC machine collecting dust in the corner.

From the shop of Andy Bird

From CNC Failure To Six-Figure Success

I remember one of my first projects, I had everything set up – or so I thought…

But one unchecked box in the software and the machine PLUNGED too deep on the first pass and tore through a beautiful $100 piece of walnut.

The wood was ruined, and so was my confidence.

I tried a few more projects without much success, and actually stopped using my CNC for over 6 months because I didn’t know where I was going wrong.

Luckily I Stuck With It…

But after a lot of trial and error, and thousands of dollars lost in wasted materials and tools – I started making some progress.

And now, nearly 7 years later:

I’ve successfully created thousands of finished projects with my CNC

I’ve sold tens of thousands of dollars of CNC products through Etsy (Even wholesaling to businesses like Saturday Night Live and HGTV)

I’ve built a YouTube channel with over 125,000 subscribers teaching others how to create and sell products with their CNC

And what I’ve come to realize after helping thousands of CNCers on YouTube and in my online courses is…

There’s No Comprehensive Resource For Learning

How To Operate Your CNC From Start To Finish

There’s No Comprehensive Resource For Learning How To Operate Your CNC

The thing is, there is no one resource that teaches you step by step how to operate your CNC successfully.

You can learn how to use the software, but that’s only one piece of the puzzle.

And what I see happen all too often is folks who start with the software end up stuck in the weeds drawing vectors and creating projects from scratch…

Instead of actually making REAL THINGS with their machine!

You Didn’t Buy Your CNC To Learn Software

You Bought Your CNC To Make Things!

You Didn't Buy Your CNC To Learn Software, You Bought Your CNC To Make Things!

Think about it: In an industrial setting, when you’re working in a machine shop, you don’t learn how to design first. You learn through making things.

Once you learn how to zero your machine, how to use the bits correctly, and sand and finish your project…

Then you can move onto the design and setup!

So if you want to start creating finished projects as fast as possible, you need to learn how to operate your CNC first.

Which is why...

I Created A Super Simple CNC Workflow That ANYONE Can Master In A Weekend

I Created A Super Simple CNC Workflow

That ANYONE Can Master In A Weekend

After seeing so many CNCers getting frustrated with their machines, I’ve created a super simple CNC workflow to help you get up to speed as fast as possible.

With “ready-to-run” files and holding your hand through all the hard stuff, so you can focus on learning the workflow and creating awesome projects right from the start.

Because once you hold that first successful project in your hand, it lights a fire under you, and I guarantee you’ll be hooked.

The best part is, this workflow is the same no matter how advanced the project: From your very first set of coasters to more advanced projects like 3D relief carvings and wood inlays.

Which is why…

After many months of work, I’m incredibly excited to introduce…

The CNC Kickstart is the only program of its kind that walks you step-by-step through every phase of the CNC creation process.

This course streamlines your entire workflow, using premade files, setup guides, and materials checklists to get you over the design hurdle and creating products right from the start.

Covering everything from how to setup your machine, choosing the right bit, setting up toolpaths, feeds and speeds, and even how to sand and finish your projects…

Giving you the confidence and skills to turn ANY project file into an enjoyable and successful finished product you’ll be proud of.

What You Get:

20 step-by-step video tutorials

Follow along with me every step of the way, as we create 6 enjoyable and useful CNC projects that increase in complexity.

Each project is designed to teach you a new set of skills and build your confidence as you work your way through the course. (See below for a project by project break-down)

Project Playbooks

On top of the video tutorials, you’ll also get printable “Project Playbooks” for each project – Giving you an easy-to-follow checklist you can use for future projects.

These playbooks also include a detailed list of materials and tools needed for each project, so you can prepare ahead of time instead of running back and forth to the hardware store.

15+ skills walkthrough videos

Each project also includes multiple “Side Quest” videos that take deep dives into important CNC techniques and skills…

These side quests include: Basic toolpaths, downcut and upcut bits, feeds and speeds, workholding basics, making trays, materials preparation, V-Carving, V-bits, compression bits, fillets, using plywood, 3D materials, 3D finishing, and more!

Project Breakdown

Project 1

The Cutter Caddy

In our first project, we’re going to be making an organizer for your work area.

This not only will help you organize your bits, clamps, and all the different things you’ll need to operate your CNC…

But this project is also specifically designed to help you build confidence and momentum as you work your way towards more advanced projects later in the course.

Through making this organizer you’ll learn the basics of CNC operation, get your first look at the Super Simple CNC Workflow, learn how to source materials, and setup pocketing and profile tool paths.

Project 2

The BBQ Buddy

In Project 2 we’ll be creating The BBQ Buddy, which is a grill scraper and bottle opener i.e. your perfect BBQ buddy!

To create this project, we’ll use the same Super Simple CNC Workflow from Project 1 and build on our profile and pocketing toolpath skills.

We’ll also be changing materials from pine to cedar, which is a great material that’s easy to source from any hardware store and rot resistant.

Project 3

The Troop Tray

In Project 3 we’ll tackle The Troop Tray, where we’re making an American flag themed catch all tray.

This may be one of my favorite projects and really kicks up the complexity!

We’ll again use the Super Simple CNC Workflow and this time include multiple tool paths and utilizing different bits.

We’re also going to be working with hardwoods for the first time, and I’ll show you how to prepare hardwoods properly to guarantee a perfect cut.

Project 4

The Warm Welcome Sign

In this project, we’re making a “warm welcome” sign you can hang on the front door. (Or sell at craft fairs and Etsy!)

As always, we’ll use the Super Simple CNC Workflow, and this time include V-carving!

This is definitely a more challenging skill compared to pocketing and profile toolpaths…

And I’ll show you how to use the same CNC workflow to get up to speed fast and start V-carving successfully.

Project 5

The Tiny Table

In Project 5 we’ll be making The Tiny Table Topper, which is a fun kids table with a flat pack design.

We’ll focus on machining plywood, how to use compression bits, and learn what the heck a fillet is and how it opens up the world of joinery.

We’re upgrading to a more advanced CNC machine for this project, but don’t worry, I’ll show you how you can use any CNC and the Super Simple Workflow to successfully finish this project.

Project 6

The Reptile Relief

For our final project, we’re going to make a popular 3D swimming crocodile with 3D relief carving.

3D relief carving is a lot of fun but also requires a higher level of detail, and I’ll show you how to use a tapered ball nose in this project to get that added detail with ease.

We’ll also be working with walnut for the first time, and I’ll share some tips and tricks for mastering this beautiful wood.
